Individual health insurance is one of the most common types of health insurance policies today. There are several benefits but the problem lies in the fact that most of the time you will not be aware of the exclusions or inclusions within the individual health insurance policies. If you are looking for an online individual health insurance quote then be sure that the quote you are provided with will not mention what it includes or doesn’t include. Most of the times, people assume that the individual health insurance quote online includes all their requirements but they are wrong.
Make sure that a representative from the company calls you to provide you with exact information regarding the inclusions and exclusions related to your quote. The basic exclusions in any individual health insurance plan include the following:
- Re-constructive or Cosmetic Surgery: circumcision is seen as a cosmetic surgery and hence will not be covered.
- Private nursing fee
- Home nursing costs
- Cost towards hearing aids or vision aids
- Dental care
- Elective abortions
- Vasectomy reversal
- Treatment of behavioral problems
These are some of the medical conditions not covered under each health insurance policies or plans. So when you get an online quote for your individual health insurance, be sure to ask the company or the health insurance agent what all it will cover. There are different types of health insurance coverage’s available like the Point-of-Service (POS), Preferred Provider Org.( PPO), Health / Medical Savings (HSA/MSA), and Health Maintenance Org. ( HMO).
Health insurance plans vary from company to company and so does the exclusions. You need to be extremely careful while looking for an individual health insurance quote and ask as many questions as possible to the insurance agent regarding the benefits you will get and what all will be covered within the plan. After all, medical requirements like pain killers and other things can be expensive. You need to find out from your insurance agent if their insurance policy covers these costs or not or if there is any policy that will cover these costs.
The bottom-line is that don’t get misled by cheap and low quotes online. Find as much information as possible before you actually decide to purchase a policy.
